There are many reasons as to what compels someone to lead others. They may feel the need to be controlling of others or to be the leader. They also may need help and power to achieve their goal. Alexander needed the people behind him to conquer the world. Other people see how oppressed their country is and think they may make a good leader. Most people want the power and control that comes with leading a country or place. Many people feel a need to be on top and in charge of others; it is just part of being a human.
