Biographies

Write short biographies on Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.

Socrates-
There is not much known about whom Socrates really was, but there are many accounts of who he could have been. He did not write any of his works down. His theory was that no one knew anything, we simply all ask questions. Socrates was a Greek philosopher who lived from 469 to 399 B.C.E. He is the main figure in most of Plato's dialogues. He was ridiculed by many of the people of his time, but generations after him have realized how important he was to history. He was charged guilty of corrupting the youth and chose to be put to death.

Plato-
Plato and Socrates are very alike; He often listened to Socrates and when Socrates died, he wrote down many of the conversations he had with Socrates. Plato was also a philosopher who lived from 429 to 347 B.C.E. He was a citizen of high status in Athens, Greece. He was a very influential author of his time and continues to influence every generation who reads his work.

Aristotle-
Aristotle lived from 384 to 322 and was also a philosopher. He studied under Plato at the Academy for twenty years and they disagree on almost everything, even though he was one of the best students. He created the first encyclopedia and the logic that we still think with today. He helped shaped society as we know it today.
