A: History is created by both ‘the people’ and individuals. ‘The people’ could be defined as many things such as, the government, people living in a local region together, religious groups, tribes, countries, or families. Individuals are a very important part of history. They shape the past, the present, and the future in small and large ways. Individual people can influence a whole city, village, civilization, or country, like the way Hitler influenced the Germans. Hitler influenced all of the Germans to believe that they were the perfect people and everyone else would have to be exterminated to create the perfect world. Individuals can also influence people around the world. People that are a positive influence are Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Martin Luther King Jr. Saddam Hussein was a bad influence to his people. Those people can be a positive influence or a negative influence depending on how much power that single person has. Gandhi was known as the father of the Indian nation because he helped free the Indian people from the British rule. Mother Teresa gave up everything she had to work with the poorest of the poor and instructed others to do so too as well. Martin Luther King Jr., who fought for the rights of African Americans, did not stop when he was thrown in jail and ridiculed for doing so. Saddam Hussein influenced the entire Iraqi nation while he was the leader. Some parts of history can be classified as created by both the individual person and ‘the people’. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks both started the movement towards full equality in America and around the world, but it took many other people’s time, labor, money, and effort to make that dream become a reality. The first man on the moon was an individual person, though this advancement in history is usually viewed as history that was created by ‘the people’. It took many individual and group jobs to put one man on the moon, so it is partially an advancement in history that was created by both the individual person and ‘the people’. If one person did not correctly complete his or her job then the success of the whole entire project may have been at stake.
The history that is created by the government is important because we can learn from the mistakes and successes of certain governments and the other governments that came before it. Our government and leaders learn from past governments and leaders that came before them to help shape the future. If the future governments learn from the past leaders and governments choices, than the governments of every country in the future can have a better government system and have their leader make better choices. Athens, being the birth-place of democracy, shaped America and other places as we know them today and we will all continue to try and improve democracy as time goes on. The Athenian democracy was not a true democracy because it had slaves and people who were not born in Athens that were not allowed to vote on what would happen in there city and did not have any rights. Most of the ancient civilizations such as, Rome, Greece, and Egypt have affected many of the countries today.
The history that is created by people living in a local region together is important because other people in different regions can learn from those people’s failures and achievements. This can help us create a better future for generations to come. The history that is created by different ethnicities is important because those people know the history of their country and should share it with others. If they share and teach others about the history of their people, then their history can live on for many generations to come after them. If more people learn about different ethnicities, than those ethnicities will never die and will forever live on.
The history that is created by religious groups is important to them and other people because it is said that faith is a very important part of a person’s life. If that person has faith, anything is possible. From a person’s religious beliefs, we can study deeper into how their culture worked and thrived.
The history that is created by tribes is important because they can have their culture carried on for many generations and are able to teach other people about their culture and the hardships they may have faced. Other cultures can benefit from learning about another culture by realizing how special culture is and how we need to keep carrying on the traditions of our ancestors for generations to come after them and us.
The history that is created by countries is important because it can bring other countries together. The Olympics were created in Athens but bring countries together for friendly competition to see who takes home the gold and brings peace to the world, if only for a moment.
The history that is created by families is important because people need to remember where they have come from and where their family has come from. If they remember that then their family traditions will be able to live on for many generations to come after them. Culture and traditions are a very large part of history, in fact, culture and traditions make up almost all of our past. Culture is often lost, such as the Aztec’s, Inca’s, and Mayan’s cultures, but culture can also live on, such as the Indian’s culture. The Indians had to fight to keep their culture in the United States because the Americans wanted to make the Indians more like themselves. The Americans wanted the Indians to look like them, act like them, talk like them, learn their traditions, convert to Christianity, and live in houses.
